Jayne and Vera in TF2

A while ago, I noticed that the Heavy in Team Fortress 2 had a stocking cap that looked like Jayne's hat in Firefly.
So I made a texture for it and in my fanboy craze for Firefly, started to make an animation.
I animated the Heavy on a Jayne's line from the episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds" with his hat and here it is :

And keep flying folks...

Buddha

I'm passing by because I found out the introduction of the Buddha Bar's website was released.
I worked on it early 2012.

I can't find a way to put it on the blog so if you want to see it, you'll have to go there (maybe by clicking here).

I modeled kind of Victorian Buildings for Paris, Russian Builings and Indian Building and some éléments of the set's in the streets.

See you...

La Plagne

A few month ago, I work at "Chez Eddy" (or Eddy's in english I guess) for a commercial about "La Plagne"wich is a ski resort in france.
I worked on the animation with Adrien Kedochim and here is the result :

Thank's Chez Eddy

Now I'm on a Kellogg's add there too.

See you Browncoats... and none browncoat's too.

Frog off

Here's a little something I took part in.
Once you're on board, tap "O" and you'll see a frog rigged and animated by yours trully.

Jet Lag, in a plane with Jean-Marie Dru; par TBWA365

to roughly translate, he talks about a time when his company (TBWA) tried to expand to Great Britain. But they were rejected and you could see marking's on the walls saying : "FROG OFF"
You know... Because you call us frogs... Because we're supposed to eat them... are we canibals to you?
Never ate any by the way.

See you Crazy Frogs...

Double Rainbow !

Arg!
I've named, said, read and written these two words so many time in the last few days I can't even look at it anymore.

Double Rainbow (Arg!) is the name of this new video but I guess you'll find out  pretty quickly why.
It's all been animated in the SFM in keyframes and errr... I'll get back to Maya for a while I think ^^'

So the animation is getting better for a second try at SFM but it's still not good enough.
But you're here to enjoy the video are you not?
So I'll leave you to it.

Here is the tutorial that helped me make the rainbows if you're intested.

SFM cherry popping

Hi everyone! (It makes it look like I have so many viewers).

Maybe you know, or maybe you don't, but an awesome software was released in beta version recently.
So, For those who don't know what a beta is... Well I explained what it was in the french version of my blog because my parents read it but odds are that people reading it here will be working in animation or video games so you probably know what it is.

So Valve, (creators of Half Life and Team Fortresse 2) released the beta version of the tool they use to make their movies : Source Filmmaker.
Basicly, it's a real-time 3D studio.
You put your set, characters, cameras, lights, play your characters or animate them, add some sound and color correction and you're done.

It was the first time I'd use it so it took me a day and animations are not great (animation I did myself I mean, wich is 2 shots) but I'll get better... Obviously.

Enjoy :

And see you space cowboy...
(Tomorow, friday july, 12th will be Firefly 10th anniversary)

Cocky Sniper

A while ago now, I rigged the face of the Team Fortress 2's sniper with the blendshapes from the game to use it on maya.
So here's my first animation with it... Him... Whatever.
When I watch it, I either like it or find it weird... it's your's to tell me I guess.

Now, instead of telling myself I could do better, I'll do better ^^

Bragging Scout

Hello There!

Here are 4 seconds of animation I did for a job application :

Stop Bragging from Foehn Gallet on Vimeo.

The small drawings on the top left are my thumbnails. It helps planning your animation before you start.
I didn't have a facial rig so I did without it. it's not what they where asking for anyway.

with this said...

P.S.: I discovered Firefly. It's 10 years old but still awesome. It's been canceled to but "there's no place I can be, since I found Serenity".

"And make it snappy"

Last week, I stop all my current projects to animate and only animate.
And I saw a job annoncing that I have a lot of interest for. So, to show them (and prove it to myself to), I animated 8 seconds, snappy style, in one day.

They where asking for 7 but I also wanted to replace the Santa from my reel, wich I am not satisfied with at all, ans I needed 215 frames to do that and not remix the music.

Anyway, Here's Moom  in action :
Surprising Treasure from Foehn Gallet on Vimeo.

That's it for today !

I forgot last time but I am always open to constructive criticism so feel free to comment.

See you Moom walker.

Axe Golf

Hi everybody.

I was tired of working on stuff I couldn't show because I needed someone elses approval or just because it take time.
So I decided to animate, PERIOD.
And it feels goooood.
So I took the Pyro from Team Fortress 2, and I through myself into it.
Textures, design, character model and rig belong to Valve Softwares (thank's for leaving it for us to play with).
I just beveled the fingers (and fought with the UV) and added stretches and squashes to the libs.
Grenades, pocket and gas tank didn't have controlers either.

Thank's to MaxOfS2D for showing me where to find the rigs for all the characters of TF2.
I have more stuff coming up with those characters but the facial rig is still to be done so it's long.

Axe Golf from Foehn Gallet on Vimeo.

Small precision, I didn't use either Source Filmmaker nor Gmod to make this movie.

There,

See you space burner.

Santa's had enough

Hey everybody!

Here is a small animation I made with the sound from the septembre's 11 seconds club.
Yes, I know. If I wanted to be a part in the contest, I should have done in septembre but no.
That said, I'd like to animate new things every once in a while so I don't forget how to actually begin an animation so I'm ending this one.
Which means, even if it is finnished, it can still get better so feel free to review. That's what I'm here for

Santa's had enough from Foehn Gallet on Vimeo.

It's crazy how much you can see post-render that you didn't see in the playblast.
anyway, the next one will be better, and the one after that and so on...
I could say "until I become the master of all animators" with an evil laugh at the end but I'm not sure how you would take it.

See you web surfer...

HoT news!

Yeah! HoT like Heads or Tales.
That's what dragons are all about right? hot...
Ok, let's move on...

Plenty of news today :
-We have a Facebook page (wich you can see on the right side of this page ->)
-The movie is on Vimeo... Wait... that's not new.
-But it is also on Youtube.
-There's a Screenrush page... but the Allociné page has more info and the movie.
-We have an Article on Catsuka (popular french animation website).
-One on 3DVF (popular french CG community website).
   -An other on Kuriositas.
-Yet an other one on Maximilien Bertrand's Blog.
-An article on a blog from Nederland (I did say world wide), Animatie (Thank google for the translation).
-And finally, Heads or Tales is on Oanim.

Then, about the man behind the picture, our movie being on screenrush, we all have our personnal screenrush page too.
So Pierre, Kevin, Adrien, Gauthier and I are directors and co-producters of Haeds or Tales on screenrush... Classy, right?

There. That's all I got for now.
If I forgot something you'll still find it later here or on the Facebook page

Earlier I put a link to the "making of" but not the video.
And let's face it, it looks good so here it is :

Anyone knows the ACM SIGGRAPH?
Well, there is one in Paris the student movie I made with Pierre, Kevin, Adrien and Gauthier will be shown there tomorow.

Flag

EDIT :
Here it is. I didn't look far for the texture, it's just a picture I changed on photoshop to make it a drawing.
It's an inifinite loop but, well, a loop on an internet video player still stops once in a while.

Looping flag simulation from Foehn Gallet on Vimeo.

OLD:
After a job interview, I started learning CG cloth simulation.
So I made a loop of flapping flag in simulation.
Once the simulation was made and looped, I had to fix some penetrations to.
So many things to learn and it's only the beginning :)

BUT, being away from home, I don't have the softwares to compile the images.
So I can't post it right now but I'll do it as soon as I'm home.

See ya

10 August 2011

Back to it

So, last time, I posted a first demo reel quickly made in case somebody would like it but it wasn't really conclusive.

I heard to short, not enough exercises (no exercises at all actually).
Here is a new one with new stuff.

So now I'll call everybody again.

Foehn Reel 2011 v2 from Foehn Gallet on Vimeo.

Obviously, I'll replace the one on the resumé page by this one.

See ya space cowboy...

17 July 2011

Let's get to work

It's time to get to work.
-First thing First : A demo reel (at the end of the post or you won't read what's next).
-Second : Call my possible bosses to be.
-Third : Send them the adresse to this blog so when they see this, they think it's sooo awesome, they'll have to hire me.

Ok. More seriously, I also put it on my "resumé" page and I'll update it when needed

I love what I do, I have lot's to learn and I expect to learn along my long years of work.

14 July 2011

That's done

Hi everybody.
I'm back from the dead.
My student movie's finished which means, I can get back on my personnal projects like Oca.
But for now, I need to make a demo reel. And for that, I'll have to animate new stuff.
So I'll work with an almost ready character that I'll introduce to you if you donc already know him.

Voilà.
in the meantime, here is a picture of my movie.
Warning: if you don't like bright colors, you'll be risking turning blind by watching this.
I'm not posting it for now because some festivals don't accept movies that already are on the internet and we don't how we will proceed about that yet.

26 January 2011

A new comer is approaching

Hey everybody.
Today, I shall introduce you to a old budy I met in my head a few years back.
I drew him so I could model him in CG and make some shorts with him.

so here's Oca's model sheets:

Model sheet:
a model sheet is document used to standardise the appearance of a character.
we can find poses, the whole turn around of a character and everything that would help the animators to have the character to stay the same if a new animator has to work on him.
when we model a character in CG, we need a model sheet with the face and the profile of the character.
